Mario & Sonic Party part 3
(Part 1) (Part 2)
Okay, now we're doing Minigame Mode
So the framing device for the Minigame Mode menu as a whole as well as the Free Play menu is that Peach's Castle ended up in Spagonia and the Submode Selection and Minigame Selection uses magic portal paintings like in Super Mario 64, with Toadsworth and Professor Pickle curating the gallery. If a submode or minigame is still locked, the painting will be obscured by abstract blobs of color.
Fishing Battle
That one mode in nearly every Mario Party where you pick a minigame category (4-Player, 2-vs-2 and 1-vs-3) and whether you need 3, 5, or 7 victories to win. In this case, it's represented by the Players' characters fishing with Big and a Lakitu, and when you win a minigame you catch a fish.
Duel Simulator
Professor E. Gadd and Eggman Nega's laboratories got fused together in such a way that the doors are missing, and they've decided to make the most of it and simulate the playable characters going head-to-head in Duel Minigame Tournaments. We've got the two duels in round 1, then the 3rd-4th playoff, then the final round, as you'd expect. The Players can decide who squares off with who in the first round.
Extreme Racing
The single player Minigame Endurance mode. The Player must compete in 100 consecutive Minigames of any type (except Item and Boss Minigames) and can only lose 3 times before getting a game over. The host duo and racecourse aesthetic are different depending on the difficulty level. On Easy, you race against Storm and the Spooky Speedster through ancient ruins, with elaborate depictions of both Ancient Babylonians and Thwomps carved into the walls. On Normal, you race against Wave and Koopa the Quick through a tunnel that appears to be part of an Eggman base, with a window on one side that reveals the tunnel is hanging over a lava lake near one of Bowser's Castles. On Hard, you race against Jet and Il Piantissimo on a path made of clouds and vines high in the sky, with Sky Babylon visible in the distance. On Master, you race against Metal Sonic 3.0 and a Cosmic Mario on a mechanical version of Rainbow Road, with both the Comet Observatory and a not-blown-up Death Egg visible in the distance. On Super, you're on a comically long wooden pier being chased by the Sonic Adventure Orca. It gives up and swims away at the halfway point, only to immediately be replaced by a giant Cheep-Cheep.
Tile Trial
It's basically just MP5's Mini-Game Wars with a bigger grid, because it's my favorite of the Colored Tile Minigame Submodes. Sticks and Orbulon are the Hosts because I think they'd play off each other well, and there's now a 2-vs-2 version called "Badgers Versus Aliens."
Chaothlon
The usual Minigame Decathlon framed as a Chao Race. It's hosted by Toad and Omochao, and every character uses a Chao that looks like them...with a few exceptions.
Cream obviously uses Cheese.
Ashley's Chao is clearly just Red under the effect of a transformation spell of some sort.
Petey Piranha uses a Nipper Plant
Bowser Jr. uses a Hero Chao wearing a Bandana identical to his.
Metal Sonic and Omega both use modified Omochao Because Robots.
Boss Rush
Kamek and Sage challenge 1 or 2 players to play every Boss Minigame back-to-back. The order is random, with the exception of Dimensional Collision Zone's boss, which is always last. This is the only way for Blaze, Ashley, Junior and Metal to fight the bosses, and it's probably a bit awkward for Junior and Metal because they are the boss fight for BowsEgg Battle Cruiser.
That's it for Minigame Mode, but this post ain't over yet!
Bonus Mode
The Dream World and Maginaryworld got fused just like everything else, but because they're both just Dreams it isn't that big a deal. So, Prince Dreambert and Illumina collaborated on three special dreams that house Bonus Games for the playable characters to enjoy.
MicroDream Mayhem
A single player bonus game hosted by Lumina. It's literally a WarioWare stage with "Mario + Sonic" as the theme. There's about 30 mirogames (which I will not be coming up with. nor will I be coming up with the Minigames. That Way Lies Madness.)
Dream Ralley
Four players race through a platforming course created by Dreambert, because of course you'd put platforming challenges into a crossover between two of the most famous platformer series of all time. Each difficulty level has three courses to choose from (Dreambert has a lot of free time).
Nightmare Shuffle
Void has created a few small, simple boards that use the mechanics of Sonic Shuffle instead of Mario Party. I bet you thought I forgot about Sonic Shuffle, didn't you?
Extras Mode
Hosted by Starlow and Shahra, this Mode houses the Star Bank and has some extra content that didn't quite fit in the other modes. Namely:
Unlockable figurines like the ones in MPDS.
3 special single-player Minigames.
Unlockable artwork of the characters, usually involving the various counterparts interacting.
The soundtrack, available for your perusal and listening pleasure.
Options Mode
Exactly what you expect. Hosted by a Goomba and an Egg Pawn.

I love the subtle references in Sonic Prime:
- 1992 is Tails Passcode (Sonic 2).
- 1998 is Big's citizen number (Sonic Adventure).
- Nine's 'hacked' jingle is the game over music from Sonic 2.
- When Sonic lands in thorns, they make the spike sound effect - including when Sonic pulls them out.
- Eggman Prime's mechs are based on the Egg Prototype 1 from Sonic Unleashed.
- Dread's boat is called the Angel's Voyage (Angel Island reference).
- Sonic's orca PTSD returns.
I hope we get more call backs and references in future episodes, whenever they release.

SonAmy week day 4: Emerald Coast
"And that's where Tails crash landed while I was just chillin' by the pool. An orca chased me while I was on my way to save him." This is what came to mind when I saw this prompt cuz I've been playing through Sonic Adventure this summer for the first time ever in my life. I finished Tails' story already and left these two at their final bosses. Knuckles is still missing emerald pieces and I haven't started Big or Gamma but this ain't about them Sonic was going to be wearing a shirt and sandals but uh, I didn't feel like adding them in either the sketch or the final lineart so here's naked Sonic, take it or leave it
#sth#sonic the hedgehog#amy rose#sonamy#sonamy week#sonamy week 2024#sonamyweek24#fanart#digital art#I'm sorry if naked Sonic offends you#but his clothes are literally just gloves and shoes#and it made no sense to me for him to be wearing them for a relaxing walk on the beach#and maybe I forwent the shirt cuz I wanted to draw his tail#forwent? is that a word?#if it wasn't i made it one#dw he'll put his “clothes” back on when they head back

I'm pretty new to Tumblr (and internet culture). I don't really know what the definition of being in a fandom is so these are just kinda a few series and games I enjoy.
Welcome to reblog hell.
I'm usually just here to look at art and stuff but I'll post occasional clips from my switch. (Tagged #p1 switch clips) I might post some random other things too (Tagged #p1 misc)
I'm a funny man, class clown if you will (maybe just clown). Almost everything I say is a /j even if it lacks a /j. I'm not a serious person and I'm joking 90% of the time.
I have a comical amount of OCs and a comical lack of drawing ability!!
I also like lore, but you will never catch me posting OC lore on the Internet to people I do not know (even if there's a high chance nobody will see it). <- Things have changed, ask and I might rant.
My favorite animals are snakes, alligators, sharks, orcas, snow leopards, ferrets, hyenas, and a lot more. I like animals (more specifically reptiles) in general.
I love dragons a healthily unhealthy amount.
Sorry if I'm stalking you or mass reblogging your stuff 😭 I just think you're really cool.
I don't know what else to put here so,,,

Who Did What for Sonic the Hedgehog's 900th Adventure
So the 900th Adventure was basically this years Annual in spirit, but instead of multiple shorter stories, it told one big story, but with the number of writers and art teams that you would get in a multi-story annual anyways. Sure you could easily read the credits, but it's more fun this way. Obviously spoilers ahead so everything past part 1 is is gonna be under a Read More
Part 1 (pages 1-6): Set-up with Tails
Writer: Ian Flynn (the original main writer on IDW Sonic and post-Metal Virus continues to be one of the main writers, including being the main writer of IDW's Classic Sonic specials. Been with the franchise since becoming a writer for the Archie comics back in '06 and served as the writer for Sonic Frontiers)
Artist: Adam Bryce Thomas (one of the main IDW Sonic artists. been around since the latter half of Archie's reboot)
Colors: Valentina Pinto (initially a secondary colorist whose biggest credit was doing the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, recently seems to have graduated to being one of the main colorists this year)
Part 2 (pages 7-12): Amy and the Orca
Writer/Artist: Evan Stanley (the other main writer of IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus as well as one of the main artists, been around since late in Archie's pre-reboot era)
Colors: Gigi Dutreix (regular cover artist and occasional inker and has even written a few stories; co-authoring Victory Garden from the 2019 Annual and its follow up Future Growth, which they also colored, and solo-writing The Catalyst from 2020's Annual)
Part 3 (pages 13-18): Knuckles and Metal Sonic
Writer: Nigel Kitching (one of the main writers of the old UK Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway Editions back in the 90s)
Artist: Mauro Fonseca (regular artist, major credits so far include Sonic Learns to Drive from the 30th Anniversary Special, co-designing Surge & Kit, doing the A-covers for the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, and doing a bunch of stuff in the concurrent and upcoming main book issues. Also relevantly used to be a regular contributor to the Sonic the Comic-Online fan continuation)
Inks: Rik Mack (recent regular inker, being the main inker on Mauro's more recent interior art for the comic as well as inking other artists, most notably on Tails' 30th Anniversary Special. Recently did some coloring on the back-half of issue 61 as well. Also another former StC-O regular)
Colors: Reggie Graham (one of the main colorists on IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus, after having been a regular on covers beforehand, as well as being another former StC-O regular)
Part 4 (pages 19-24): Eggman and his Mech
Writer: Daniel Barnes (writer of Weapons from the 2022 Annual and the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Artist/Colors: Min Ho Kim (fairly recent addition of the IDW Sonic crew, being a regular cover artist since Scrapnik #1. Also the character artist on The Murder of Sonic)
Color Assistance: Evan Maly
Part 5 (pages 25-30): Blaze and Cream
Writer/Artist: Aaron Hammerstrom (regular artist, most prominently being the main artist for IDW's Classic Sonic stuff. Also previously wrote/drew the 2022 Annual story Rough Patch)
Inks: Matt Froese (regular inker, mainly works on Aaron's art. Most notable non-Aaron credits include the two Yardley-drawn issues of Zeti Hunt and the first and last parts of Trial by Fire)
Colors: Nathalie Fourdraine (The 1:10 Retailer Incentive variant cover artist for every issue the main book as well as semi-regularly doing covers for side books. Served as the colorist for the Classic Sonic stories Dr. Eggman's Brithday and Amy's New Hobby, as well as the colors and A covers for the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Part 6 (pages 31-36): Babylon Rogues & Shadow/Rouge
Writer: Caleb Goellner (writer of the Team Sonic Racing one-shot, the 2019 Annual story Jet Set Tornado, and the 2020 Annual story Reflections)
Artist: Abby Bulmer (regular cover artist, as well as artist of the 2020 Annual story The Catalyst and the 2022 Annual story Hero Camp. Notably way back in the day was the artist of the very first StC-O story, and her time on 2000 AD often involved her serving as a colorist for Richard Elson, one of the main StC artists.)
Colors: Heather Breckel (IDW MLP's main colorist, who's been a recurring secondary colorist throughout IDW Sonic's run, often filling in for other colorists)
Part 7 (pages 37-40): The Warp Topaz Cave
Same team (Flynn/Thomas/Pinto) as part 1

Things I noticed watching Sonic Prime
-Tails' code to his workshop is the year his character was introduced, 1992.
-Big's ID number in New Yoke is '1998', the year Sonic Adventure was released and his first appearance.
-When Sonic teaches Knucks and Nine to spin it resembled a Team blast from sonic Heroes. (I think)
-On Knuckles Dread's Ship when Rouge mentions something in the water, like a wale, Sonic says "It's not an Orca is it?" could be a reference to Emerald Coast, and the Orca that chases him in Adventure.
#sonic prime spoilers#sonic prime#sonic the hedgehog#I was pointing the whole time catching references#I really like how the story is going#there might be more references but I didn't catch them

References: Part Two
Continuation of "Hold On To “What If”: Overanalyzing and Rewriting Sonic Prime" essay
[Once Again, spoilers for Sonic Prime, all media here belong to their respective creators.]
✨//🌻//✨
[S1 EP 7]
Flashback to when Sonic met Knuckles for the first time — a reference to Hidden Palace Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3
I know we've seen Shadow with the Green Chaos Emerald, but the fact that the show acknowledges the Master Emerald, it means a lot. Also, the fact that all the other Chaos Emeralds exist, they could’ve brought it all back. (internal screaming)
Sonic using a cannon to defeat Dread’s former crew — the least likely to be an actual reference but it reminded me of Sonic X
(if yk yk)
Sonic’s fear of orcas — self-explanatory (Game: Sonic Adventure 1)
[S1 EP 8]
Knuckles’ gliding maneuver in reaching for the blue Shard — also self-explanatory (First seen in: Sonic the Hedgehog 2)
[S2 EP1]
Shadow’s Pose in Sonic vs. Shadow: Fight for the Tech — one of Shadow’s iconic poses
Shadow surfing on Sonic — an apparent reference(???) to Final Fantasy Sonic X, a fan-made game created by user BlackDevilX (this is seen in EP6 of the game)
Shadow falling into the Unknown Abyss of the Void — Callback of Shadow falling towards Earth at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 (Sonic failed to catch him in SA2)
Sonic saving Shadow — Actually, this wasn’t the first time Sonic caught him in a similar scenario. It also happened in the Archie comics. (Sonic Universe, The Shadow Saga Part 2 of 4: Time & Again)
[S2 EP2]
Bit of slow-mo of Sonic battling Dr. Babble — a reference of the iconic pose from the Sonic Unleashed Opening
Knuckles’ balancing during the Battle for Boscage Maze — a reference to one of Knuckles’ balancing sprite animations (Game: Sonic Mania)
[S2 EP3]
Big’s dancing — a reference of Team Rose victory dance from Sonic Heroes
Sonic knocking out Dr. Deep — a reference to his idle animation in Sonic Battle
[S2 EP4]
Sonic retrieving the Blue Prism Shard from Dread — a reference to his iconic pose from Sonic Adventure 1
[S2 EP6]
Chaos Sonic’s finger-wagging — simply copying Sonic’s iconic gestures
Chaos Sonic saying “You’re too slow.” — an iconic Sonic line
To be continued...

Seriously, the way that Archie Sonic treated Akhult in the Preboot he may as well have been an anthro from the dman start, the 'reference' to the orcas in Sonic Adventure and 06 make no sense since unlike Akhult, they were just regular animals that didn't know any better. Ahkult knew what he was doing and reveled in it.

I once heard a theory that the reason the orcas attack Sonic in games like Sonic Adventure and Sonic '06 is because they were captive orcas, which tend to be more aggressive. If I recall, at least in the 06 version, the area the orcas appear in is sectioned off (or has some sort of barrier). I can't recall if the same applies to Sonic Adventure, though.
However, in Sonic Generations, they're helping Sonic and it's because these orcas are not in captivity (they are free to leave the area) so they're more friendly and see Sonic as a fun toy to bounce around.
what do those orca whales have against sonic anyway
